Unicorns, Glitter, and Letting Go: Adrian’s Most Playful God Box Yet

There’s glitter. There’s a unicorn. There’s a slow-mo lid test that absolutely nails it.

Welcome to one of the most joy-filled projects to ever come out of the Art’s Really Cool workspace: Adrian’s most playful and colorful God Box yet.

Side View with Butterfly and White Unicorn

A whimsical side view of Adrian’s custom God Box showing a purple panel with a white unicorn silhouette and 3D unicorn sticker, alongside a sky-blue panel with a white butterfly. Metallic charms dangle from the gold hinges, adding a playful finishing touch.

If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, a God Box (some call it a worry box) is a place to put your stresses, fears, or anxious thoughts. You write them down, stick them in the box, and let them go. It’s a simple but powerful way to release what you can’t control—and sometimes, a beautiful excuse to make something colorful and healing for someone you care about.

This box was made by Adrian for a close friend who loves all things unicorn, glitter, and fun colors. And when we say fun, we mean it—purple, pink, green, blue, and all the sparkle you can handle. The whole vibe? Whimsical, childlike, and okay, maybe a little frustrating at moments (glitter does have a personality of its own). But totally worth it.

Rear View with Purple Panel and Poured Lid

This view captures the back of the God Box with a textured purple panel and white unicorn stencil, accented by a rainbow-maned unicorn sticker. The marbled lid continues the color story with dynamic acrylic pours in dreamy hues.

🖌️ Pushing Past the Comfort Zone

Though this was Adrian’s third God Box, it was his first time working with such a bright, playful palette, and definitely his first time adding glitter to the mix. Inspired by a set of rainbow unicorn stickers found at Michael’s (as all excellent ideas are), he built the entire aesthetic around them.

Pink & Green Side with Layered Unicorn Cutout

This angle highlights the God Box’s deep green panel with a layered acrylic-poured unicorn cutout and the opposite side painted in pink, decorated with a butterfly stencil and glossy unicorn stickers. The speckled glitter frame brings it all together in vibrant harmony.

One of the standout features is a wooden unicorn cutout that he used as a canvas for acrylic pouring. It was his first time pouring on a shaped cutout, and the result? Pure magic. The first pour didn’t quite hit the mark, so he repoured it—and the speckled edges from the original actually became one of his favorite parts. The unicorn kept a little bit of its past, and that just felt… right.

Same with the box lid: it got its own pour, and the way the white paint flowed into the edges created a tie-in effect that felt unplanned but perfect. You’ll see what we mean in the video.

🛠️ Pro Tips from Adrian

  • Don’t cheap out on the wood. Cheap wood warps and cracks when it dries. Sad unicorn energy.

  • Think outside the box—even when you’re making a box. Especially with your color palette.

  • And if you’re going to do a unicorn-themed anything, don’t hold back on glitter. Go full sparkle or go home.

Claudia with Her Custom God Box

Claudia smiles while holding her custom unicorn-themed God Box, lovingly created by Adrian. Inside the box, he included a ceramic unicorn and painting supplies so she could add her own creative touch—seen here with the pink unicorn she painted and placed proudly on top. A heartfelt gift turned interactive art project.

🎥 Favorite Moment in the Video

There's a fantastic little moment when Adrian finishes the build, places the lid on, and it clicks shut with precision. The relief on his face is real—and he even captures it in glorious slow-mo. We live for a satisfying ending.
